At Designers Remix, we care about the planet as well as the people who inhabit it. Our concern goes beyond clothing to re-designing the social and environmental factors needed to promote a more sustainable planet. For us, Corporate Social Responsibility isn’t a buzzword. It’s an integral part of our way of being. We put a high priority on adhering to the international standards set forth by the UN and ILO regarding human rights, employee rights, environmental protection and anti-corruption. We also actively seek alliances only with like-minded suppliers around the world who meet with these standards.
UN GLOBAL COMPACT
Since 2007, Designers Remix has participated in the UN Global Compact Program. A voluntary initiative founded by Kofi Annan to involve private companies keen on tackling the major social and environmental challenges we all face. BSCI Furthermore, we are a member of the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI), which was founded by FTA (Foreign Trade Association) in 2003. A European organisation monitoring the social standards in all supplier countries for all consumer goods, BSCI also serves as a platform of exchange for sharing insights, answers and best practices with the various other BSCI members.
ECO COMMITMENT
We believe that even the smallest step towards change can make a big difference. Our commitment to creating a more sustainable world extends from the paper we recycle to the organic fabrics we choose to the way we transport our clothing to consumers.
- In every collection we have styles made in certified organic cotton according to the GOTS – Global Organic Textile Standard and in recycled polyester.
- We support animal rights and only accept Merino wool from sheep that have not undergone the painful Mulesing procedure. We do not use down feathers obtained via a live-plucked method.
- At our headquarters in Copenhagen, we recycle cardboard boxes, donate our paper to a day care centre and save on energy consumption by switching off our computer screens, printers and electricity when we leave every evening.
- A significant part of our collection is being produced in Europe to minimise CO2 emissions, as the transportation distance is shorter. Our goal is have all of our products transported via boat or truck.
- We are currently taking steps towards creating CO2 neutral stores.
